Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions. We have answers.
What time is your weekly service and how long does it last?
Our worship service starts is every Sunday at 10:00 AM. Our service lasts around one hour and then we transition to Bible Classes. Be sure to grab a coffee in between!
Where is the church?
Our church building is located at 1901 Vickie Drive in Del City. We’re behind Del City High School and next to DCHS’s baseball field.
How is this church different than other churches?
We are a non-denominational church which seeks to be simply disciples of Jesus Christ. The Bible is our only guide for life and religion. We are striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. We’re not perfect, but we serve a God who is.
What age groups go to your church?
We have people of all ages who attend. We have singles, married and widowed folks who serve in a variety of ways. We also have a long history of youth and children’s ministry at Del City. Whatever your life stage, we have a way for you to get involved at Del City.
What can I expect as a first time guest?
We have a relaxed atmosphere at Del City. We expect people to come as they are to worship. Expect several friendly faces and smiles when you join us. You’re invited to participate in singing and worship or just listen.
What is your style of musical worship?
Our worship is acappella or voice only. That’s right, we don’t use instruments. It’s simple singing with words on the screen or you can follow in a song book. You’re invited to join us in singing or listen the first time you join us. We hope you’ll love it like we do.
What do you offer for children and teens during your services?
We have excellent child and teen programs each Sunday. We have Bible classes for all ages after worship service. Children from nursery to 6th grade are in our Children’s Wing while students aged 7th to 12th grade go to our Youth Center in the back building. During our worship service the nursery is open for all babies.
Do you have a youth group? If so, when does it meet and who is invited?
Our Del City Youth Group is for students ages 7th through 12th grade. We call them “The DCYG”. They are comprised of students from around the Oklahoma City Metro area and represent 10 different high schools and even more middle schools.
Our students meet in a 5,000 square foot facility called the YC (Youth Center). It has a cafe area, games, a billiard table and other places for students to hang out before worship and teaching times.
How do I get my child signed up for Youth Group?
We’d love for your student to be involved in our Youth Ministry. Encourage them to go to Sunday or Wednesday activities. We list our weekly activities in our bulletin. If you need help, contact Sam and he’d love to assist you.
What do you offer for babies and toddlers?
Each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening we offer a nursery with trained and background checked volunteers. They offer a safe and nurturing environment for babies. We also have a private room at the back of our auditorium for crying babies and nursing mothers.
What denomination are you?
We are non-denominational, which means we have no outside governing body. Our leadership is local and made of men from our congregation called Elders or Shepherds.
Do I have to dress up to attend your services?
Please join us in any way you feel comfortable. You’ll see a wide variety of attire at Del City. As long as you wear clothes, you’ll fit in with us.
How often do you take communion?
We believe communion is so important that we take it every Sunday as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice. Since the advent of COVID-19, we make the communion elements available in individually packaged containers including a wafer and grape juice. These can be picked up in the lobby prior to entering the auditorium. Our communion is open, meaning you do not have to be approved by the church to take communion. If you are a believer and want to honor Jesus' memory with us, you are certainly welcome to participate.
What kind of adult education/spiritual growth opportunities do you offer?
We have Bible Classes every Sunday morning from 11:15 AM to noon. If you need help finding a Bible Class, stop by Connection Point and we’ll help you find one. It’s also likely a member might invite you to one, too. You can attend any one you’d like to attend.
On Wednesdays we have an early-bird Bible class at 4:30 PM. We are also in the process of rolling out some hands-on service opportunities for Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 PM. During the school year, we also have a meal from 5:30-6:30 PM in the gym. There is no charge for guests to join us for this meal. Members usually contribute $4 each, or $12 for a family of three or more to help offset the cost of the food.
How can I get involved serving in the church?
Our first step for each guest is to join us at worship service. Then we’d love to connect you with a Bible Class. However, we do have lots of folks who got involved in service before joining our church family. That’s OK, too!
Do you offer marriage counseling and other types of counseling?
We offer premarital counseling on a first-come, first-served basis at our church. We also have avenues for short-term marriage counseling, as well as referrals for other issues. If we can help you, please let us know!
How do I become a member?
Jesus is who adds you to His church. If you would like to become a member of our congregation, simply reach out to one of our staff members, Shepherds, or volunteer leaders and we will help you get plugged in to the family of God at Del City.
Do you perform weddings and funerals?
We can help with weddings and funerals. If you’d like to know more, please contact our office at (405) 672-1311.
How often do you do baptism services?
We offer baptism 24/7. We believe baptism is an essential component to being saved from sin and being born again through Christ, so we are always ready to teach you about baptism. And when you're ready, we will baptize you. If you have questions, please contact one of our ministers or Shepherds.
How do I get in touch with someone at the church?
If you’d like to reach our main office, simply email us office@delcitychurch.org and we’ll direct your email to the right person. If you’d like to talk to someone, you can call us at (405) 672-1311. You can find us 1901 Vickie Drive, Del City, OK 73115.
