Our Story
How We Got Started:
Our church was planted in 1952 by the Marshall Street Church of Christ. Our first worship service took place on the west side of Sunnylane. After years of growth in the 1950’s and 1960’s, our church family relocated to our current location on Vickie Drive. Our church has gone through several remodels, but more importantly, has sent out hundreds of ministers in the last 60 years. Former ministers like Mack Lyon, Doug Lawyer, Doug Parsons, Jeff Payne, and countless others who have blessed God’s Kingdom.
We also have been able to help family’s raise faithful children and were one of the first congregations to hire a youth minister, Sonny Banning, in the 1960’s. We also built one of the first Family Life Centers in the area during this time period.
While innovating, our church’s continued focus is on raising the next generation for Christ in our DC Kids and Del City Youth Group (DCYG). Young people are still one of our most important ministries as we look to the future.
We also want to be good news to our community, so we seek to partner where we can to reach others with the love of Christ. Through 30+ plus ministries, we seek to build bridges out, and we pray that that those who need a relationship with Christ will cross back over to meet Him. We’d love for you and your family to join us in reaching a new generation for Christ.
