Be Still

Corrie ten Boom once said that if the devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy. There’s truth in that. Both sin and busyness have the exact same effect-they cut off your connection to God, to other people, and even to your own mind. When you are busy, many times it is your spiritual life that tends to slip through the cracks. When you are in a hurry, you tend to treat people impatiently, or unkindly. It should come as no surprise that in Psalms God calls us “To be still and know, that I am God.” But in our culture of constant hurry and ruthless focus on efficiency, do we have time to just “be still”? What does that even look like? Let’s see what the Bible has to say about how to un-busy our lives.
