Walking with Wisdom 4: Wisdom’s Rival

As most of you know by now, I love history. I enjoy hearing the great tales of incredible historical figures and the triumphs and tragedies that accompany them. What especially fascinates me is when the entire course of history seems to change due to one pivotal decision. Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon, Napoleon’s choice to engage at Waterloo, President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb, Robert Downey Jr.’s choice to play Iron Man—each of these decisions had a profound impact on the course of human history.

While we often look at these monumental decisions in isolation, the reality is that there were likely hundreds of smaller decisions that led to those crucial moments. Some of these decisions may have seemed insignificant at the time, but they ultimately paved the way for these individuals to become legends.

As we continue our study of Proverbs, we encounter Wisdom’s rival, "The Forbidden Woman." We’ll discover that sin and folly don’t usually result from one sudden, irreversible decision that comes out of nowhere. More often, they follow after a series of small, inadvertent choices that lead us to a place we never intended to go. So, how do we avoid this fate? Let’s find out.
