MTAF 9: PEOPLE OF PEACE
In a poll conducted by Reuters in 2016, 38 million people admitted they had stopped communicating with family members or friends due to conflicts arising from the election. That’s a staggering number. It’s surprising to think that so many would allow politics to interfere with relationships as close as those with family. Yet, when I considered that figure in relation to the over 330 million people living in the United States, I found myself thinking, "Is that all?" This reflects the critical levels of division in our country, and the church is certainly not immune to this trend. As Christians, we are called to a different way of living, especially during times of deep division, such as election season. Let’s explore how we can truly be lights in the world during its darkest moments.
