MTAF 11: OUR JOY
In the Heidelberg Catechism, established in 1563 in Heidelberg Germany, it asks the Christian two questions. The first being, “What is your only comfort in life and in death?” This is a huge question, one that should give each of us pause and really ponder how we should answer.
While the answer in the actual catechism is too long to put here (you can look it up, its quite good) it begins with this thought “That I’m not my own, but belong-body and soul, in life and in death- to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.” That is an incredibly powerful thought, and actually the foundation of what we will be studying this morning. We like to talk a big game about the joy found in Christianity, but as I look around, sometimes I see Christians just as miserable as everyone else. What is the source of Christian Joy? What does it mean that we “rejoice in the Lord always”? Get excited, as we dive into what makes our faith so joyful.
